- Advertisment -

Dan McCaffertypopular singer and lead singer of the hard rock band Nazareth, died on November 8, 2022 at the age of 76. Pete Agnew, a member of his band, announced the news on Facebook, writing:

“Dan passed away today at 12:40 PM. This is the most heartbreaking news I’ve ever had to make. Maryann and her family have lost a sweet, loving husband and father; I’ve lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the greatest vocalists of all time. I’m too sad to say anything about it now.”

McCafferty was a member of Nazareth from its inception in 1968 until his retirement in 2013.

Dan McCafferty announced that he is stopping touring due to health problems.

Dan McCafferty passed away Tuesday (November 8) and although his bandmate Pete broke the news on social media, he did not name the cause of death. McCafferty had several health problems, but it’s unclear whether these played a role in his death.

McCafferty stopped traveling with Nazareth in August 2013 due to health issues. Dan revealed his health problems to British music magazine Classic Rock and confirmed he has never had a stroke, as previously reported in the press. Dan said that in the same year (2013), he passed out on stage during a performance in Canada due to ruptured stomach cancer. When asked about the event, he replied that he assumed everything would be fine, but people lose a lot of blood when that happens.

Dan McCafferty was a member of the hard rock band Nazareth.

Born on October 14, 1946, Dan McCafferty was inspired by artists such as Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and Otis Redding. He co-founded Nazareth and was on their albums until 2014, traveling with them for 45 years.

His wife, whose name is unknown, and their two children are among his survivors.
