Lee Jung-jae, which gained worldwide fame with Squid Game, has entered the Star Wars universe. On September 9, 2022, Deadline announced that the 49-year-old veteran actor has landed a starring role in Disney+’s new Star Wars series The Acolyte. The Squid Game actor is the most recent addition to the Acolyte team. His persona is also kept secret for the time being. The announcement came as a surprise, as speculation that Hunt’s director-actor will join Marvel has sparked several conversations on social media. The star had previously refuted it in a statement. While the claims were unfounded, people’s expectations of Korean performers breaking into mainstream Hollywood turned out to be correct.

After speculation that Lee Jung-jae would join Marvel, the world was already looking forward to the South Korean actor breaking into a major Hollywood brand. While it’s not Marvel, it came out before Star Wars. Star Wars is a cult favorite dating back to the 1970s. It is now a media brand with various movies, shows, video games, books, themed rides and comics. The latest Star Wars series, The Acolyte, is directed by the Squid Game actor.

According to a report from Deadline on Sept. 9, sources have verified that Lee Jung-jae has landed the lead role in the mystery thriller. This is a huge step forward for the 49-year-old, who rose to fame after appearing on the Netflix survival show. Since his debut, the actor has made history many times over and will most likely do so again at the Primetime Emmy Awards on September 13. He will also host the Emmys with his co-star Jung Ho-yeon. Meanwhile, Amandla Stenberg, 23, will play the second lead role in The Acolyte. She is a Critics’ Choice Award and Black Reels Award contender. Jodie Turner-Smith would also join the cast of the program.

The roles of one of the actors have not yet been announced. The Acolyte, on the other hand, will undoubtedly be Lee Jung-most jae’s major professional achievement. In its current form, Hollywood welcomes South Korean celebrities thanks to the Hallyu Wave, OTT platforms and unparalleled fan power. Before Squid Game star Park Seo-joon, Jung Ho-yeon, Cha Eun-woo, BLACKPINK’s Jennie, Yoo Teo and Bae Doona are also said to have joined the Hollywood sector.

Park Seo-joon will appear in the Captain Marvel sequel, Jung Ho-yeon in The Governesses, and Cha Eun-woo in K-pop: Lost in America. BLACKPINK’s Jennie will appear in The Idol, Yoo Teo will star in Past Lives and Bae Doona will return to Hollywood in Rebel Moon. It will be fascinating to see what role the Squid Game actor takes on. Disgusting comments about the show’s language have already been posted on Reddit. Matt Kim, IGN’s news editor, uploaded a screenshot with users arguing whether he should speak English or “make him an alien” to force him to “learn a new language.”
