Subsequently, Ayew was included in the preliminary 25-man squad of the Ghana national football team for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, and was chosen for this squad. On June 9, 2014, the Ghana team in Brazil played its last warm-up match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Ghana team was not chosen to play in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but they gave their best at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
