Rami Malek is about to star in James Hawes’ next big project, Amateur, in which the Bohemian Rhapsody actor will play a CIA cryptographer on a revenge mission. After the stunning success of Apple TV’s Slow Horses, James Hawes has just taken on this project from 20th Century Fox.
According to sources, Amateur is still in the early stages of development, with Gary Spinelli penning the first draft of the screenplay. This photo is unlikely to be released in 2023, but a 2024 release seems like a sure conclusion. Malek is most recognized for his roles in Mr. Robot and in Brian Singer’s Bohemian Rhapsody as rock legend Freddie Mercury. Amateur doesn’t have many details yet, but the producer has given a preliminary storyline.
A vengeful CIA agent’s quest for revenge
At first glance, the plot of the movie Amateur seems like a common notion that has been extensively explored in action and thriller movies. The James Hawes movie will reportedly depict a CIA cryptographer chasing down his wife’s killers when his colleagues refuse to help him.
According to Deadline, the film’s story is as follows:
“The plot revolves around a CIA cryptographer who, after his wife is tragically killed in a terrorist attack in London, insists that his superiors go after them. When it becomes clear that they would not act due to conflicting internal objectives, he blackmails the agency into training him and allowing him to go after them on his own.
It will be some time before the official description or trailer of the project is released. But with such fascinating individuals already involved in the project, it’s undeniably exciting. This news of Rami Malek’s involvement in the movie came shortly after the actor finished filming Christopher Nolan’s thriller Oppenheimer, one of the most anticipated movies in the coming months.
