Rather than pursuing acting as well, she leaned more towards a career in music and showed a prowess in her vocal ability that has conditioned her throughout her life.
She started singing professionally in the mid-1980s, leading to the release of her first song in 1988 called “Bye Mama”, dedicated to her mother and which became a hit, making her an up and coming rock star in Mexico. Hair career went well into the 1990s when she released some of her biggest albums, including “Flor de Piel” and “Eternamente Bella”, certified gold and platinum respectively, and the success of which led her to sign a contract with the label Sony BMG based in Ariola.
Gradually, her music would reach other parts of the world and especially appeal to a Spanish-speaking audience. She was later nominated for both Latin Grammy and Grammy awards.

Her career has made her one of the most successful singers in Mexico, selling more than 30 million albums internationally; she has been named the Queen of Rock or La Reina del Rock in Mexico.
