Atlanta, Georgia has emerged as one of the most vibrant new hubs in the country, with booming enterprise, cybersecurity and SaaS sectors, as well as a slew of investors eager to support the city’s hot new startups. Some well-known Atlanta companies include Calendly, Kabbage, One Trust, and FullStory – all unicorns, by the way.
Many, like Calendly, knew the stories of Atlanta Tech Village, which has served as an incubator for the city’s talent ecosystem since its inception in 2012 by David Cummings.

Record labels, such as Quality Control, the musical birthplace of the Migos, now have an investment arm, and the local HBCUs, such as Morehouse, have their own entrepreneurial and innovation centers. Even the Atlanta Hawks launched their own investment company to support emerging talent. In fact, ATL touts itself as so committed to advancing its tech ecosystem that it’s appointed a chief technology officer, or as some colloquially call the role, a city Tech Czar.
The next step, of course, was for ukbusinessupdates.com to spotlight the city to showcase everything new and upcoming. Investors and founders have long been excited about what’s happening in the region. Last year, startups in Atlanta raised about $1.65 billion, according to PitchBook; though down about 47.9% year-over-year, that amount is still the second highest funding allocated to the city in recent years.
“The venture capital opportunity in the South is better than ever,” Lisa Calhoun, general partner at Valor Ventures, told ukbusinessupdates.com+ last year. “Many new founders start businesses at amazing rates; in terms of deal flow, we’ve never had so much.”
Tune in June 7 at 10:00 ET while ukbusinessupdates.com Live unpacks what’s happening in Atlanta’s tech ecosystem. While much of the event is still under wraps (stay tuned), we can promise an exciting series of panels and articles to showcase the city’s culture and its drive to become a tech hub. Trust us, this is not an event you want to miss, so stay tuned for updates and we hope you can join us as we officially welcome you to Atlanta.
