One of the biggest games of 2022, Elder ringgets what appears to be the first major expansion: titled DLC content Shadow of the Erdboom.
Developer FromSoftware announced in a tweet this morning that the DLC was officially in development, though the company didn’t share when we might expect a release.
a short blog post confirmed that the DLC is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Steam. It also said a “follow-up report is still a bit ahead” (translation from Japanese via Google), so hopefully we can expect more details sooner rather than later.
Elder ring DLC is highly anticipated content for a number of reasons. Elder ring has been a huge success, selling over 20 million copies worldwide, and FromSoftware has a habit of releasing DLC for its titles within a year after the first launch of a game.
We have no details on what story or content Shadow of the Erdboom could address – just the name and the single image above. But for a game with such incredible and dense lore, these alone are enough to fuel weeks of speculation.
Who drives Torrent first? (Consensus seems to be Miquella, but some people suggest Marika.) And what’s up with the Erdtree in the background? Is it rotting? Be consumed by another tree? Is it even the Erdtree, or maybe the Haligtree? Even if we don’t know when the DLC is coming, at least the YouTubers will know as soon as possible.
