While The Super Mario Bros. movie is still scheduled for early April, but will hit theaters a little earlier than we originally thought.
Universal announced this today by way of The Super Mario Bros. movie‘s Twitter page, which moved the feature’s release date in the US (and 60 other markets, including China, France, the UK, Italy, Germany, and Mexico) from Friday, April 7 to Wednesday, April 5.
This latest change to the film’s scheduled U.S. premiere comes nearly a year after Nintendo announced it was being pushed back from December 21, 2022 to April of this year. It’s not entirely clear why The Super Mario Bros. movie will arrive here sooner than expected, but given the previous delays, it could just come down to Universal, Illumination, and Nintendo wanting to unleash it on the public as soon as possible.
