Happy Zelda Launch Day, everyone! I hope you all enjoy your time with the latest Nintendo title, and I’ll check in with you next week after we’ve all had a chance to enjoy it over the weekend. And hopefully none of you were spoiled by that leak from last week. It feels like this whole week has been a waiting pattern, waiting for Tears of the Kingdom to drop – but we’ve had an interesting week nonetheless.
Nintendo and Electronic Arts both released their financial earnings reports this week. While Electronic Arts’ numbers appear to be stable – though not stable enough to avoid layoffs earlier this year – Nintendo’s Switch sales are falling. If the report is anything to go by, the company has anticipated it and prepared accordingly. I have a feeling we won’t be seeing that oft-rumored Switch follow-up anytime soon.
Unfortunately, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been delayed again. While it never had a set release date, the plan seemed to release it in the first half of this year. That time frame is closing soon, so it looks like the developers won’t be racing to achieve it. We’ve also heard a rumor that the next game in the Call of Duty series will be a remake of Modern Warfare 3 – a story I’d love to relive.
In personal news, I just now managed to get my Dead Island 2 review out before Tears of the Kingdom dropped. While I have plenty of room in my heart for other games, I think I’ll dedicate myself to the new Zelda because I get serious FOMO when a game as big as this comes out. Other than that, I could try to carve out some time to play more Jedi: Survivor, but I’m not promising to play anything but Zelda in the next few days.
