Early life and education
Firdous, along with his two brothers, was raised in Bahrain by their mother Roshan, who was a housewife, and their father Esadvaster, who was the regional representative of the Norwich Union Life Insurance Society – both of their parents were interested in charitable work and helped a lot in collecting of money for underprivileged children and children with disabilities.
Firdous studied at St. Christopher’s School, Bahrain before moving to the American Kodaikanal International Boarding School located in the south indian mountains.
After graduating in 1984, Firdous enrolled at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, before moving to the University of South Carolina, where he graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. He continued to work on his education and received his Master of Fine Arts degree in journalism in 1990.
While still in college, Firdous became more interested in rock music and was the lead singer of a rock band he founded.
Career as an actor
Firdous launched his acting career before enrolling in college and appeared in several plays such as “Burn This”, “Beirut” and “Danny, and the Deep Blue Sea”, in which he played the lead character Danny.
He eventually decided to move to Washington DC to take acting classes at The Shakespeare Theater, and his breakthrough role came in 1994 when he was chosen to appear in the play “SubUrbia” staged at the Mitzi Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center – as the staged in New York City, Firdous sold his car to move there. He appeared and acted in many plays before making his debut in the TV series, as Dr. Spears in the episode “New York News” of the 1995 drama series of the same name, starring Mary Tyler Moore, Gregory Harrison and Madeline Kahn, and is about the people who work for a newspaper in New York City.
A year later, Firdous was invited to play the supporting character ER Doctor in the drama film “Firehouse”, but which did not attract much attention.
The year 2000 saw him guest star as Daoud Tarzi in the episode “Honor” of the crime mystery series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, and he also had a small role in the mysterious science fiction movie “Unbreakable”. Love life and partner Hayley Mills
Firdous prefers to keep his personal affairs to himself, but it is known that he was once married to his other half Erin Thigpen. The two married in the US and were together for several years before breaking up for unknown reasons. Many believe that Erin was jealous of Firdous and his career, which ultimately led to their divorce.
Today Firdous has a relationship with his partner Hayley Catherine Rose Vivien Mills who was born in Marylebone, London, England on April 18, 1946 and who is an actress perhaps best known for her portrayal of the lead character in the crime film “Tiger Bay” (for her performance in the film she received a BAFTA Award for the most promising newcomer).
She is the daughter of iconic English actor (Sir) John Mills and Mary Hayley Bell. Hayley was previously married to film director Roy Boulting from 1971 to 1977 and gave birth to their son Crispian Mills – she also has a son from her relationship with British actor Leigh Lawson.
Hayley and Firdous have been together since 1997.
Hobbies and other interests
Firdous is fond of learning languages and can speak four of them fluently while he can understand several more but cannot speak them well.
Since his teens his biggest hobby is travelingand he has been all over the US to visit almost every state, and he has also been to many European and Asian countries including Switzerland and Austria (Europe) and Japan (Asia).
Motivated by his parents, Firdous became interested in charitable work and attending charitable events and has donated money to several charitable organizations dedicated to working with veterans and underprivileged children.
