Louis William Tomlinson was born on the 24e December 1991, in Doncaster, England, as the only child of Troy Austin and Johannah Poulston. His parents separated when he was still in his infancy, and his mother later married Mark Tomlinson, hence Louis’ surname. From his stepfather’s previous relationship, he has seven half-siblings.
Early 2000s, young Louis appeared as an extra in a few episodes of ITV’s TV drama series “Fat Friends” after which he decided to enroll in drama school in the town of Barnsley. His real acting debut came in 2006 when he appeared briefly in the TV movie “If I Had You”, and then in an episode of the BBC TV drama series “Waterloo Road”.
He attended Hall Cross Academy in his hometown as a sixth form student, before enrolling at The Hayfield School.
However, after failing his first year of A-Levels, he went back to Hall Cross Academy where he only started his A-Levels. Additionally, Tomlinson also appeared in several school plays and musical productions, including the role of Danny Zuko in Hall Cross’ production of “Grease”. During his teenage years, Louis held several jobs including working at the local cinema, at the Doncaster Rovers Football Club stadium and also as a waiter.
In 2009, Louis appeared at an audition for “The X Factor” but was turned down during the production phase. The following year, he auditioned again for “The X Factor”, but failed to progress past the judging stage to move on to the boys category. In addition to Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik – all “too good to throw away, but not interesting enough to make it as a soloist”, Louis Tomlinson was put in a five-piece boy band.
After two weeks of practicing together and getting to know each other, they came up with the name A directionand eventually finished third in the final of the competition.
Despite not winning the seventh season of “The X Factor”, the boys quickly gained a huge dose of popularity and received a warm reception from audiences, first in the UK and later around the world. They were signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco Records and soon after went on The X Factor Live Tour. In 2014, One Direction was named “The Artist of the Year” by Billboard, while Forbes ranked them as the fourth highest-earning celebrities in 2015.
As the leader of the group, Louis wrote or co-wrote 38 One Direction songs, including six of their biggest hit singles.
2015, Tomlinson appeared alongside Simon Cowell as a guest judge during the 12e season of “The X Factor”, after which he launched his own record label – Triple Strings Ltd. His debut solo single titled “Just Hold On” was released in December 2016 and also peaked at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart as well as No. 1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Digital Songs Sales chart.
