Early life and education
Evelyn was raised as a single child in the Bay Region by her parents, who are both Russian Jews, and had the opportunity to travel the world even before she became a teenager. She visited several European countries such as England, France and Russia, while also traveling to Asia and South America.
Because her parents have relatives in many countries, Evelyn spent some time living in France, England and Israel during her childhood. The first language she started learning was Russian, then English and French, and later she added Hebrew to the list.
She became interested in meteorology at a very young age and wanted to find out the mystery behind weather changes, the clouds and the storms. She attended Menlo High School in Atherton, California, then enrolled at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School of Journalism, graduating in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, while later receiving her certificate of meteorology from Mississippi State University.
Career as a meteorologist
Evelyn began her career as a meteorologist while still in college, and after graduating she began working at KCOY in Santa Maria, California, a CBS affiliate. She worked a variety of jobs, such as reporter and weather anchor, and spent much of her time outdoors, mostly reporting on wildfires. Evelyn simultaneously worked for KION, another CBS affiliate, and then joined KRON 4 in San Francisco.
On August 9, 2010, Evelyn joined Los Angeles’ channel 9 KCAL-TV network, and has been with them ever since, currently serving as their weekday meteorologist.
At the time of her arrival, Evelyn began working with three new journalists named Rick Garcia, Sharon Tay, and Stephanie Simmons, and it can be said that the trio helped the network gain popularity as its viewership increased by 28 percent. She joined the National Weather Association (NWA) and received their seal of approval, the highest award a meteorologist can receive.

Before Ross, Evelyn dated a fellow journalist while still in college. The two shared the same passion and helped each other with advice and tips, and were together for over three years before breaking up because they wanted to focus on their careers instead of a long-distance relationship.

Evelyn is still a big fan of travel and spends most of her spare time wandering the world, but her husband rarely keeps her company as he is very busy. She loves sailing and is in love with the ocean, while also enjoying tasting different cuisines – her favorite is spicy Hungarian food.

Ross grew up interested in sports and music, and excelled at football, but after graduating from high school, he put football aside and attended the University of Southern California, where he became interested in Asian food.
He decided to launch a food truck booking service called wandering hunger, which lets people see if there are food trucks near their location, book food trucks for any kind of event, and use them for a variety of purposes, including displaying them in ads. The company was initially just an online directory, but as Ross experienced more and more demand, he decided to create an entire company around it, and currently employs 35 people out of West Hollywood. In June 2011, the company made their app available for download for iOS, while it took three years to create a version for Android.
