John Paul Tremblay was born in 1968, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and is a Canadian actor, comedian and screenwriter. He is perhaps best known for starring in the lead role of Julian in the movie “mockumentary” franchise.Trailerparkboys“. In addition, he is recognized for his appearances in TV comedy series such as “The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Funtime Hour” and “Sunnyvale Shoals”.

In the late 1980s, John Paul teamed up with his high school friends Robb Wells and Mark Clattenburg, and the trio began filming themselves often practicing crude jokes on random people. In 1995, along with new member Mike Smith, John Paul and Robb filmed their black and white short comedy called “The Cart Boy”. Three years later, in 1998, the same crew released another short comedy film entitled “One Last Shot”.
However, it turned out that this was certainly not their last chance, but the very beginning of a successful franchise. At the 1999 Atlantic Film Festival, their official comedy film “Trailerparkboyswas presented to the public and received positive reviews. Directed and primarily written by Clattenburg and starring TremblaySmith and Wells in the title roles, the story follows ‘little’ ex-cons who document their daily adventures in a trailer park.
After its initial success, two years later, the comedy series ‘Trailer Park Boys’ premiered on Showcase, starring Tremblay in the lead role of Julian, as well as Smith and Wells playing the roles of Bubbles and Ricky LaFleur, respectively. After the trio’s day-to-day struggles to make some money through a variety of con artists and petty crimes, the show quickly earned an army of fans and went on to run for a total of 11 seasons before being called off in 2018.
John Paul Tremblay has reprized the same role in several other installments of this humorous mockumentary saga. It features a number of critically acclaimed films such as ‘Trailer Park Boys: The Movie’ (2006), ‘Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day’ (2009) and ‘Trailer Park Boys: Don’t Legalize It’ (2014). . In addition, it includes several TV movies, such as “Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys” from 2008, “Trailer Park Boys: Live in F**kin’ Dublin” and “Trailer Park Boys: Live at the North Pole” released in 2014 , and its 2015 sequel “Trailer Park Boys: Drunk, High & Un Employment”.
However, the franchise’s biggest dose of popularity comes from its original TV series, enriched with several spin-off shows such as ‘Trailer Park Boys: Out of the Park’ and a more recent one called ‘Trailer Park Boys: Park After Dark’. ”. In 2019, the world of “Trailer Park Boys” was enriched with “Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series”.

Before entering the film industry in the mid-1990s, John Paul Tremblay was a successful restaurateur – alongside his high school friend and “Trailer Park Boys” co-star Robb Wells, he owned and operated a chain of pizza restaurants called JR Capone’s, which were located in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island.
He is married for a long time to Andrea (née Hurley) Tremblay with whom he has welcomed three children.
