Early life and education
Marty grew up alongside Rick and their two sisters, Marianne Gardener and Terese Fornetti, in Kingsford by their mother Ann C Lagina, an engineer who worked at Lake Shore Engineering, and their father George Lagina, who was a teacher. The boys spent most of their time together growing up, and upon enrolling in a local high school, Marty began playing a variety of sports, all the while becoming interested in history and acting.
After entrance examination, he enrolled at Michigan State University of Technologygraduated in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree, but then decided to study law, graduating in 1982 with a doctorate in law from the same university.
career as an engineer
In 1979, Marty joined Amoco Production Co., becoming their Petroleum Engineer, and held the position for the next three years before founding his own company, Terra Energy Ltd. founded. He worked with gas and oil and served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). until 1995. Marty eventually sold the company to CMS Energy for a huge sum.
