Early life and career beginnings
While Deborah was growing up in California, her family moved during her childhood when her father was a pilot in the US Marine Corps. She lived the longest in Arizona and Texas. She was very shy during her childhood, and this led her parents to enroll her in a modeling school. This helped her as she gained confidence heading into high school, where she became a cheerleader and got good grades.
Towards the end of her high school education, she was discovered by a photographer and began working for a local newspaper, which eventually led her to meet some representatives of the Wilhelmina Models agency, who signed her to be a model for their Los Angeles office.
