Who is David Conrad and what is he doing now?
David Conrad was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, on August 17, 1967 – his zodiac sign is Leo and he is an American national. He’s an actor who is perhaps best known for starring in the fantasy drama series “Ghost Whisperer” created by John Grady and also starring Jennifer Love Hewitt and Camryn Manheim. The series follows various people who can communicate with the deceased; it aired from 2005 to 2010 and won five awards while being nominated for 25 others, including four Primetime Emmys.
David has not been active in the film industry since 2018 and some people think he may have retired from acting while others argue that he is just taking a break from his career.
Early life and education
David was raised in Pittsburgh alongside his two older brothers, by their mother Margaret Clement Conrad, who was a librarian, and their father James Watson Conrad, who was an engineer.
David attended Swissvale High School for a year, where he first became interested in acting, then switched to The Kiski School when he was awarded a scholarship.
He was interested in playing soccer, performing in school plays, and learning to play the guitar. After matriculation in 1985, David enrolled at Brown University to study history but dropped out before graduating – while making his way into the film industry, David worked multiple jobs to support himself financially, being a carpenter, house painter and barista. He saved up some money and enrolled in New York’s prestigious Juilliard School, but dropped out during his senior year so he could appear in the gothic fantasy horror film “Snow White: A Tale of Terror”.
Roles in movies
David made his screen debut in 1993 playing a vampire in the independent horror film “Darkness: The Vampire Version” which was both written and directed by Leif Jonker and starring Gary Miller, Michael Gisick and Randall Aviks – story follows a man who goes to fight the undead after his small town is attacked by vampires.
In 1996, David Simon starred in the drama “Under Heat”, and then gained recognition in 1998 after playing the supporting character Tony Croft in the thriller film “Return to Paradise”.
In 1999, he starred as Lyle in “The Weekend,” but the film failed to attract much attention. The following year, he was invited to appear as Captain Hanks in the critically acclaimed drama film “Men of Honor”starring Robert De Niro and follows the true story of Master Chief Petty Officer Carl Brashear, the first African American to become a master diver in the United States Navy.
In 2003, David appeared in the romantic comedy film “Anything Else”, directed by Woody Allen and starring Danny DeVito, Jimmy Fallon and Stockard Channing. Some of his next roles were in the romantic comedy “Wedding Crashers” and the comedy “Dumpster”, both in 2005, and the independent biographical musical “Crazy” in 2007.
Three of David’s most recent film roles were in “Follow the Prophet” in 2009, the drama “About Sunny” in 2011, and the documentary “Undaunted: The Forgotten Giants of the Allegheny Observatory,” which he narrated in 2012.
