Season 4 of Selena + Chef will premiere on August 18, featuring a new lineup of world-renowned chefs delivering an exciting culinary experience to Selena Gomez. Matty Matheson, a 40-year-old Canadian chef, restaurateur and online celebrity, is one of these chefs. Adrienne Cheatham, Devonn Francis, Gordon Ramsay, Kristen Kish, Ludo Lefebvre, Nick DiGiovanni, Paola Velez, Priya Krishna and Rachael Ray are among the other chefs Gomez will learn to cook during her summer vacation in Malibu. In addition, by showing the episodes, the series has earned $400,000 for 26 charitable organizations so far.

Matheson was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, and his grandfather was a restaurant, so cooking was in his blood. He started his career at Le Sélect Bistro, where he learned French culinary methods from chef Rang Nguyen. Matheson worked at La Palette in 2006 and in 2010 he was the head chef of the new restaurant Parts & Labor. The creative chef founded Matty’s Pattys Burger Club and Prime Seafood Palace in Toronto, Canada. During the pandemic, Matheson opened two more restaurants: Matty’s Pattys in Toronto and Matty’s Meat and Three in Fort Erie.
He then became known as the host of Vice’s kitchen and travel series Dead Set on Life and It’s Suppertime. His cheerful and friendly nature earned him a spot on the internet program Munchies. Matty also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, demonstrating how to make a family dish with stuffed shells. Matheson released his first cookbook, Matty Matheson: A Cookbook, in October 2018, and his second, Home Style Cookery, in 2020. In addition, in 2017 he co-hosted the Powerful Truth Angels podcast, which was well received by listeners. In addition, he runs his own Toronto food and music event, Mattyfest, and owns shares in two Maker Pizza stores in partnership with Shlomo Buchler.
Furthermore, Matty has been working with designers Castor Design for a few years, with whom he founded the cookware brand Matheson. He has known the designer since they both worked at Oddfellows and Parts & Labor restaurants 12 years ago.
