Crunchyroll Games announced today that it is working on a game based on the One Punch man anime. The title, dubbed One Punch Man: World, is a multiplayer action game launching on PC and mobile later this year. Crunchyroll develops it together with publisher Perfect World. Interested players can now pre-register for the PC version.
According to the new Crunchyroll trailer, World is a hack-and-slash action title featuring several well-known characters from the anime. Players join the Hero Association and unlock and level up the characters. They can face villains and monsters in raids and also take part in mini-games and side quests. Several battles from the anime’s first season have been recreated beat-for-beat, but Crunchyroll also adds new content that expands the story.
Terry Li, CEO of Crunchyroll Games, said in a statement: “The most ambitious Crunchyroll Games title to date, One Punch Man: World is an immersive online action game that transports players to the universe of One-Punch Man. Developed by Perfect World, the game brings iconic characters and abilities to life with premium production values that we’re excited to unleash on anime fans and gamers alike.”
Perfect World is a Chinese publisher responsible for several other titles, including Tower of Fantasy, Final Fantasy Awakening, and the upcoming Persona 5: The Phantom X. The company sold its subsidiary, Perfect World Entertainment, to Embracer in 2021. which Steam brought to China in 2018.
