Like Taylor SwiftDril sells several “Flavours” from the archive – the “refined“edition puts its posts in alphabetical order,”lover“ranks them by how many favorites they have,”forever” sorts them in chronological order, and “chaotic”, is of course completely arbitrary. While many of us here on The edge being big fans of the reverse chronological timeline (and it would be very interesting to see the evolution of the Dril style in print), my heart pushes me to the “beloved” version because… I mean the man tweet A LOT, and if I’m being honest it sounds a lot easier to have the greatest hits in one half of the book.
There is also a digital edition on sale for about $6 (about half the $12.89 price of the paperback), which Dril says is for people who “like to read my posts on a site that isn’t run by a car salesman torturing monkeys.” No points for guessing who that is for. That version contains text files for each edition, as well as every image and video Dril has ever tweeted and a huge “raw tweet archive of ‘For The Data Freaks’ stats.”
It is not the first time that Dril has published a book with tweets like the one referenced in the subheading of this article and “‘I am not property! I am not property!!’, I keep pushing as I slowly shrink and transform into a corn cob. His 2018 title Drill Official “Mr. Ten year anniversary collection, which is still for sale, contains “more than 1,500 classic messages” and illustrations. He too sells a book called The Get Rich and Become God Method (The DRIL Collection)the contents of which I can only imagine.
That seems unlikely Drill Archives includes every single tweet from the @dril account – first, it’s subtitled “10,000 posts” where the Twitter app says the account has about 12,000 tweets. But a quick scroll through the 9,995-line dril10000favorited.txt file that I just paid six entire George Washingtons for, shows that it absolutely delivers on its promise to provide a “vast archive of ‘DRIL POSTS’ created from December 2022, available online, whatever happens to Elon’s great experiment.” And now that I have a copy of the only good content included in Mr. Musk’s $44 billion investment, I can also join the people who are saying goodbye to the site.
