Glassdoor’s Top Cybersecurity Companies for Job Seekers in 2023

In contrast to the job insecurity and layoffs that dominate other tech fields, the demand for cybersecurity professionals continues to grow, with the deployment of Glassdoor Best Workplaces 2023 provided with a handy step-by-step plan. Looking at the Glassdoor scores of the top 100 cybersecurity companies provides additional insight for job-seeking cybersecurity professionals.

A widening talent gap offers more opportunities

Despite adding more than 464,000 new hires in the past year, the cybersecurity employee gap is growing twice as fast as hiring, up 26.2% last year, according to the (ISC)2 Cybersecurity Workforce Study. The study estimates the global cybersecurity workforce at 4.7 million, the highest number on record. (ISC)2 further reports that organizations are trying to fill a global shortfall of 3.4 million cybersecurity workers.

“Due to geopolitical tensions and macroeconomic instability, alongside high-profile data breaches and growing physical security challenges, there is an increased focus on cybersecurity and increasing demand for professionals within the field,” said Clar Rosso, (ISC)2 CEO.

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics information security analyst Outlook predicts that cybersecurity jobs will grow by 35% through 2031, more than eight times faster than the national average job growth rate of 4%.

Today, Glassdoor announced the winners of its 15th annual Employees’ Choice Awards, honoring the 2023 Best Places to Work in the US and four other countries.

These awards are distinct from many other workplace awards and are based on input from employees who voluntarily provide anonymous feedback on Glassdoor by completing a company review about their job, work environment and employer in the past year. Winners are then determined using Glassdoor’s proprietary algorithm, led by the company’s economic research team, and are based on ratings and reviews shared by employees over the past year.

Technology companies dominate the 100 companies included in Best Places to Work 2023, accounting for 41% of the list. Ten of the top 15 best-rated companies come from the technology sector. They contain insight, Box, Nvidia, MathWorks, Google, Serve now, HubSpot, Microsoft, Adobeand CrowdStrike.

This year’s best places to work reflect strong demand for cybersecurity professionals. Glass door currently lists 17,242 cybersecurity jobs in the US alone, of which 3,468 work – from – home positions. Several of the companies that have been considered the Best Places to Work 2023 have hundreds of cybersecurity job opportunities.

CrowdStrike is a new member of the Best Places to Work, ranked 15th, with a company score of 4.5. Known for its expertise in cloud, endpoint, and enterprise security, CrowdStrike is an artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) powerhouse in the cybersecurity industry. The company currently has 201 open positions on Glassdoor.

Other cybersecurity companies to rank among the top 100 workplaces in 2023 include Fortinetwhich ranks 34th and has 373 available jobs in the U.S Palo Alto Networksknown for their expertise in next-generation firewalls, cloud and network security, ranks 59th and has 349 jobs available in the US

Glassdoor’s top cybersecurity companies to find a job in 2023

The most common request from VentureBeat readers is for recommendations on which companies are best to work for and have open positions. In response to this request, a Glassdoor-based analysis of the top cybersecurity companies using CRNs was completed today 2022 Security 100 list of cybersecurity companies as a starting point.

Employees who work for network security companies are most likely to recommend their company to a friend

More than three quarters (83%) of employees at network security companies would recommend their company to a friend looking for a job. Leading network security companies based on Glassdoor ratings include Nozomi Networks, Perimeter 81, WatchGuard Technologies, Claroty, and Cato Networks.

And 81% of endpoint, managed security, web, email, and application security professionals would also recommend their company to a friend. In addition, 80% of risk, threat intelligence and security operations and 78% of identity access management and data protection employees would do so.

Year-over-year analysis of CRN’s top 100 cybersecurity companies based on Glassdoor ratings shows that the fastest-growing sectors of the market – particularly risk, threat intelligence and security operations – have seen steady CEO turnover over the past two years. New CEOs often receive higher ratings because their vision for the company focuses on greater employee involvement and ownership.

The number of cybersecurity job openings continues to rise

LinkedIn currently has 234,444 open positions related to the cybersecurity industry in the US alone. Deloitte, which was ranked 58th on Glassdoor’s Best Places To Work list in 2023, is currently listed in 10,597 open positions on LinkedIn. And 14,100 vacancies on LinkedIn are affiliated with cybersecurity and pay salaries in excess of $100,000 per year.

The (ISC)2 Cybersecurity Workforce Study quantifies how in demand cybersecurity professionals are today and how important a strong company culture is.
