Volta operates 3,050 EV chargers in the US and Europe with another 3,400 in the pipeline
Last year, Volta was second only to Tesla in customer satisfaction for Tier 2 chargers. It largely operates stations in high-traffic retail parking lots and provides free electricity to EV drivers, with revenue from advertising.
The combination of the forthcoming Shell USA-owned Volta, plus Greenlots (owned by Shell New Energies and renamed Shell Recharge Solutions), a total of more than 57,000 charging stations under the yellow and red scallop. Shell New Energies is also working on other alternative energy projects such as offshore wind farms in New Jersey.
