Tesla is accused of violating state labor laws by allegedly telling employees at its Orlando, Florida site not to discuss wages and working conditions, as first reported by Bloomberg. In filed a complaint in SeptemberTampa’s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) regional director alleges that Telsa “told employees not to complain to senior managers about their pay or other terms of employment” and told them not to “discuss their pay with any other person.”
The complaint goes on to accuse Tesla of instructing employees not to discuss the hiring, suspension or termination of employees with others. These incidents took place from December 2021 to January 2022, the complaint alleges, and violate laws that prevent companies from “impeding, restricting and coercing workers in the exercise of guaranteed rights” by the NLRB Act. In a statement to BloombergNLRB spokesperson Kayla Blado says a judge will hear arguments from the complaint at a hearing in February.
